Puzzle No. 119 - "Movie Moms"
This was a fun crossword to fill out as I had most of the themed answers right off the bat without cross clue help. I am curious about 47 Down, though. It is clued as "saw" and the answer is "adage." Isn't this clue a bit of a stretch? An adage is a saying that has been accepted as truth. Saw does seem a bit of a stretch since it implies some sort of first hand observation and then confirmation of a hypothesis. Anyway, this issue has been a delight. I usually stick to Crosswords Crosswords but this magazine has a great selection of different level puzzles and the digest size has been easier to tote around. edited by IN_Puzzler on 4/11/2012

If I'm not mistaken, one of the definitions of the word "saw" is adage or familiar saying.
Edited to add: Yes, this is from the freedictionary.com:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/saying
"Saw often refers to a familiar saying that has become trite through frequent repetition: old saws that gave little comfort to the losing team." edited by Bernadette1959 on 4/11/2012

Its interesting, I looked up adage but there is no listing for saw. I looked up saw and adage was the second entry. You learn something every day.
