I couldn't figure this one out, so I went to the solution (Classic Variety Puzzles Plus Crosswords May 2012, page 116). I agree with the solution until: Jed's partner isn't Karr [Barb[Charleston] isn't Larks (7)] (6)
I get that Barb isn't Larks because Larks and the winner of the Charleston are two different contestants (clue 7), but I don't see how clue 6 tells us that Jed's partner isn't Karr because Barb isn't Larks. Clue 6 tells us that Ms. Karr and Mr. Larks are partners. Am I missing the link between Jed's partner and his spouse, or is this faulty logic?
