While there are some people who keep all their old puzzle magazines, many of us do not. So if you could give us the introduction, and the clues, to that 2007 puzzle, maybe someone will be able to point you in the right direction. And when you write that there might have been a "map" which you don't have, are you referring to a grid, by any chance? If there are enough words given, I can usually reconstruct what should be in a grid, even without seeing the grid. If you mean there's a drawing of what's north of this, or east of that, but you lost the drawing, then the puzzle may be un-solvable unless someone happens to have that old puzzle.

I happen to have the map.

What you need to do first is go to the section on solving here and learn all you can about solving logic problems. Once you have a good grip on what you're in for, then you take the places in the puzzle, and begin to figure out where those places are. If you're dealing with 4 places and 4 compass points, you may get a clue like this... Jville is directly opposite Eville. So you know they're going to be NS or EW in some order. Then you might get a clue like Hville one position counterclockwise from Jville. So you know that wherever Jville is, say north, Hville will be west, If it's south, then east. And you solve the puzzle that way, creating your own map, and learning all along the way.

Hope that helps.
