I just got an e-mail from Penny/Dell about a new magazine of "Colossal" logic problems, over 300 of them in one volume. So I ordered it, and we'll see how long it takes to arrive. I have a feeling that even if many of the puzzles are puzzles I've done before, I'll still enjoy it.

I'm not quite sure whether it's Penny, or Dell, or both of them, that offers this book. But I'll be happy to get it, whenever it arrives (presumably about two weeks after the "England's Best, volume 3" that I ordered 2 weeks ago, to take 6 weeks from that point).

Amy I ordered that book a while back! I think you'll be happy with it! There are 319 puzzles, all with grids, and there are a couple Duet puzzles (where you have to work back and forth between two puzzles) like you find in PP's Original Logic Problems. I would say all the puzzles are small to medium size, and they are printed on nice paper that holds up extremely well to erasing. I know because I did a puzzle with a frixion pen and had to erase it. It mentions Penny/Dell on the copyright page. It says on the back cover of the book that the puzzles are from "puzzle guru" Richard Manchester. My guess is that he is a constructor for Penny/Dell, or working with them to put out this collection.

I can't remember with certainty, but I'm almost positive this book is a compilation of Penny Press's logic problems. Released around the same time, the Colossal Brain Boosters volume is a compilation of puzzles from Dell's defunct Brain Boosters magazine. Definitely a great paper quality on those books; the book series has also has a number of Crosswords, Word Search, Sudoku and Variety Puzzle volumes, with Richard Manchester's name listed on various titles over the years. I presume Manchester is the editor selecting/compiling the content for the volumes but it's hard to really know.

hey, are you talking about The Colossal Book of Short Puzzles and Problems by Martin Gardner ( https://www.amazon.com/Colossal-Book-Short-Puzzles-Problems/dp/0393061140 )? Or there's some other book? Actually, besides solving puzzles from this book I love one like these math tests: https://www.mathsisfun.com/puzzles/ and http://yourhomeworkhelp.org/math-tests/ - that are on the web

Martin Gardner was a great mathematician who wrote some books about mathematical puzzles and games. That's not the same book as the Richard Manchester book which I started on this thread. But I bet Martin Gardner's book is good, too (not that it's necessarily about the same types of puzzles as are on the Penny / Dell website, but who knows?)
