Hello, new to forum, so please correct me if I'm not allowed to ask...
I am having difficulty with Nov 2016 issue, Super Challenger puzzle 264 (page 139)... the back few pages of solutions have ripped off my book (constantly bending & tossing book in & out of my lunch tote for work)...

I can't find a solution solver that will help me with this puzzle. The few that I've been able to fill in a 16X16 grid, have given a solution, but does not follow the X diagonal circles, that also must be filled in 1-16.
I'd love to be able to find which places I have entered wrong so far, so that I can correct them, and move on to finding the solution.
Thanks!.

ie: is there a place I can find my missing published solutions pages? Or does PennyDellPuzzles.com have a solutions page for 16X16 with the diagonal 1-16's?

I am wondering about which magazine you have. I first thought it was a volume of Dell's Collector's Series Sudoku Super Challenger, but those volumes do not have that many pages. Is there a regular Dell magazine called "Super Challenger" or was this taken from some other publication?

My guess is it's Dell Original Sudoku - the November issue was a jumbo and has a Super Challenger puzzle numbered 264 on page 139.

ChelT, one of the cool things Penny/Dell offers is an online sudoku solver. If you visit this website:

http://www.pennydellsudokusolver.com/

You can enter the issue and puzzle number you're working to solve, and it can let you check assumptions, be shown hints, etc. to help you figure out how to break through the puzzle. Those challengers can get tricky, so it may help you figure out tricks to solve them more efficiently.

Josh is correct, that it is Dell Original Sudoku, Issue Nov 2016.. and the very last few puzzles are 16x16 grid.

Thank you Josh for the suggestion of using the Penny Dell solution solver. That's what I was looking for.

Unfortunately, when I plugged in the puzzle number, I received the edit message on screen "Only 9x9 Standard and Extreme puzzles are supported."

So, if anyone still has the last couple pages of the answer grids for this issue, I'd sure like to get some info on "where" I'm wrong.

If you message me privately with your email, I will take a picture of my copy here. Easy enough request to assist.

Thanks,

I'm not as anxious about it as I was. But finding what I've put in wrong would help me get back to plugging away at this puzzle.

Red are the spaces I've guessed so far, but know I'm wrong on some.

My biggest guess would be the 12's and 9's wrong...

Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

I have tried to solve this puzzle 4 times, but failed. It's a tough one. I was afraid there might be a typo in the posted diagram, but it's probably more likely that these super challenger sudoku are just too much for me. upset

I sent over the answer to the original poster; there are some errors in the red numbers. Not sure if you tried solving with those, or wiping those out and keeping the black ones, which were the original clues. If you'd like me to send you the answer as well, let me know!

I find myself messing up roughly a fourth of the time on the super challengers; most frequently my own handwriting trips me up and I didn't notice a particularly poorly written number smile I am proud of the fact that my error % is decreasing as I spend a more consistent amount of time solving again; a few years ago I took a bit of a break and had to build myself back up again.

Josh: Thank you! I would very much like to have the answer to this sudoku. (The black numbers were the only ones I used.) I've sent you a private message.

Going slowly, and checking to see if each number was correct after I wrote it in, I finally solved this sudoku. I didn't mess it up this time around. "Super Challenger" is an apt name for these puzzles. Whew! Thanks, Josh, for the answer.
