Can anyone help me to understand this cryptic crossword clue, or at least part of it? Here is the clue:

One attempting to seduce alien's mad, nuts.

I figured out the correct answer, "ladies man", but I don't understand how the word "nuts" comes into play.

Thanks for any help!

I've about decided that "nuts" must be just an indicator word, to point out the anagram. Nuts as in "messed up, crazy, etc." I guess that makes sense? LOL wink

Yes, that's what I think "nuts" is for. Sometimes they use "bananas" as the same kind of indicator.

Thank you for the heads up about "bananas!"

I don't attempt cryptic crosswords very often but every once in a while I'll give one a try and find myself miraculously able to solve it! LOL wink
