I downloaded the Sudoku Super Challenger from the Free Puzzles section (July 13). I have filled in a few squares, and now I am stuck. If there are any tips for solving Sudoku Super Challenger puzzles, I would appreciate someone sharing them with me. Thanks.

While we don't have specific solving tips for the Challenger Sudoku puzzles with 16 x 16 grids, the tips that apply for standard-size Sudokus can also be applied, but on a larger scale. Please check the following link for helpful tips (How To Solve Sudoku): http://www.pennydellpuzzles.com/puzzlers_corner/solving_help.aspx. Also, perhaps some of your fellow solvers can help out with some tips of their own. Thanks for writing and good luck!

Hello Puzzlemind,
The Super Challengers are indeeed challenging. A few things that help me: I go through the puzzle and determine which numbers are represented the most ( ex the number 8 may already be filled in the grid 10 times, the number 5 may be in the puzzle 8 times) and write it down underneath the numbers given at the top of the puzzle. This gives me a starting point and I go through and try to solve as many 8s as I can and then move on to the next number and so on. As with all Sudoku, I find it really helpful in the challenger to eliminate as many numbers for a particular square as possible and pencil in the remaining possibliities. Also remember to work the X as it's own 'block' or 'line'. Good luck and have fun!

I like to start by looking at the diagonals. As you look at the squares that include one of the diagonals, if there are three squares that include a certain letter or number outside the circles, then the letter or number in question must be in one of the four circles in the remaining square. Then look across and up and down to see if you can narrow it down further. I can usually fill in at least one circle this way or at least narrow some numbers (letters) down to just a few possibilities.
