I am unclear of the scoring for this puzzle. Strikes are worth 20 but 10 strikes = 300. Spares are worth 10. Is it staight addition to derive the score (7 strikes = 140 and 3 spares = 30 for 170 total? Do you score a word in which no split was made with the remaining letters? I am stumped on one and can't find the split or strike in LIIEOUMNS. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The puzzle is a lot of fun.

Hi IN Puzzler,

In the Bowl puzzles, each numbered game is worth 30 points: 20 for the one-word strike, and 10 for the 2 spares together. To get the 300 points on 10 games you must get a strike and a set of 2 spares on each game. You can score 20 if you only get a strike but no spares; or 10 if you get the spares but no strike. One spare alone doesn't count.

Here's a hint on your stumped 9-letter strike: it might be rented for a special occasion. And for one of the spares, try one of these:
-6-letter word for a setting or sphere
-5-letter word for a no-goodnik
-5-letter word for a part of the skeleton

Hope this helps.
Frances.
